College SDSU Grads Offer Tom's Some Competition
"What started as a San Diego State University assignment to formulate a
business plan with a social impact has turned into a full-time limited
liability company that is providing free prescription glasses to people
in need around the world," according to San Diego Reader. (Optical News from OpticalCEUs gave you a glimpse of SOLO on March 21.)"Operating under the slogan 'Vision to Give,' SOLO Eyewear was founded last year by recent graduates Jenny Amaraneni and Craig Stern. The company, which includes creative director Dana Holliday, works on
a similar model to the popular Santa Monica for-profit TOMS Shoes and
Eyewear – for every pair of sunglasses purchased, SOLO donates a pair of
