Essilor Expands in China and Switzerland

Essilor is expanding in China, having signed partnerships worth about €22 million in additional revenue. The company acquired a majority interest in Jiangsu Youli Optics Co. Ltd., the €15-million, Danyang manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses. Youli Optics formerly was named Governor Optical Co. Ltd. Essilor also picked up a majority stake in the €7-million lens manufacturer Jiangsu Seeworld Optical Co. Ltd. Meanwhile in Europe, Essilor  purchased a majority holding in €11-million Reize, a distributor of BBGR's in the Swiss market.
