"A woman demanded a WA council pay for her $900 sunglasses after claiming a magpie swooped on the designer eyewear resting on her head and flew away with the Gucci shades," reports the Herald. "While falls and accidents on dodgy footpaths and roads were the top targets for public liability payouts, the magpie case was one of the more bizarre compensation claims rejected by Local Government Insurance Services."
