Safilo Goes on Display at Milan’s Furniture Fair

Safilo will be taking part in the 'Interiors' section of the Salone del Mobile (furniture fair) in Milan for the first time with a special project under the direction of the architect Michele De Lucchi. The theme for 2013 is “HYBRID Architecture and Design.” For Safilo, De Lucchi designed a structure in natural pinewood with openings and external plaster bas-reliefs. The reliefs depict faces, hands and noses, created by the traditional Milanese workshop of Fumagalli and Dossi. Each cast also bears a pair of glasses, creating a contrasting unsettling effect .
