"Further studies will be needed before experts can confirm the effectiveness of new orthokeratology (OK) contact lenses, which have been shown to slow or halt the progression of myopia in tests," according to a post on ContactLenses.co.uk. "With myopia being one of the most widespread eye problems in the world, it is hoped that the latest study, led by Professor Helen Swarbrick at the UNSW Research in Orthokeratology Group, will soon lead to the development of commercial lenses to help sufferers. However, she told Science Alert that it may be some time before the lenses make it onto the market, as tests need to be carried out to determine factors such as the recommended length of wear, with the findings then published in a scientific journal."
