Essilor Expands Sunwear Capacity with Acquisiton
Essilor International has acquired a 50 percent stake in Polycore Optical, Singapore. The 38-year-old Polycore develops a wide range of lenses that are distributed in Asia, Europe and the United States. Hubert Sagnières, chairman and chief executive officer of Essilor, said that the production capacity and tooling at Polycore adds to existing capabilities at Essilors sunglass lens BNL Gentex plants in France and the United States. He added that "this new partnership allows us to offer a range of products and wider and more complete solar materials and accelerate the diffusion of performance sunglasses." Read more.
