San Fran Looking for Eye Care Volunteers

"Volunteer dental, medical and vision professionals licensed in California are still needed for a four-day free health clinic at the Oakland Coliseum this weekend, April 9-12," according to SFGate.com. "This will be the first Bay Area event organized by Remote Area Medical, a Tennessee-based nonprofit primarly known for providing free medical services overseas and in rural and other underserved areas of the United States. The group made its first Northern California appearance last weekend at Sacramento's Cal Expo, where it provided care to more than 3,600 people at a four-day event."

Just this past weekend, RAM finished an event for 3400 people at Cal Expo "'The attitude of the people has been overwhelmingly nice,' said Stan Brock, clinic founder and former co-star with Marlin Perkins on the 'Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom' television show," according to the ModBee.com post. "'When you have thousands of people waiting many, many hours and still to be cheerful and grateful for the services we are trying to give them, it is an extraordinary commentary on the people in the Sacramento.'"
