Vision Loss Will Cost the World $3.53 Billion
"Costs related to vision loss are expected to skyrocket in the next 10
years as the global population ages. In particular, ocular morbidity
related to the diabetes epidemic will increase, according to a study
presented here at the World Ophthalmology Congress 2012," reports Medscape. "Changes in current allocation of vision-related resources will be
required to prevent an ophthalmologic healthcare crisis, researchers

impairment were more than $2.95 trillion in 2010, with North America
accounting for $692 billion and Western Europe accounting for
