New Sunglasses from Theo

"When Tim Van Steenbergen designed his latest collection of sunglasses for theo, he went back to...days...filled with big guitar sounds. Tim took inspiration from the sublime Fenders played by his musical heroes and together with theo designer Serge Bracke, came up with six intense models," reports Midwest Lens. "Theo big boss Wim Somers chose a palette of ‘shadow colors’, such as white, grey, black and dark blue, and dubbed them the ‘Shadows’, after his personal guitar heroes....Each [frame] is made up of different shapes and lines...with flaring on the temples in a different color for example – a reference to Fender – or ‘superimposing’ different materials, like on a Les Paul guitar. The detail in the ear tip refers to a guitar pick." Read more.

New Theo Eyewear from VingTage

"Nine retro-inspired designs together make up Mille, the latest VinGtage collection from theo. Although these models are perfectly in line with the previous VinGtage series, they’re also different," notes Midwest Lens. "The shapes are simple, the acetate is monochrome and they don’t come with any ‘gimmicks’. It’s the feeling that matters. Beautiful glasses without frills designed for Generation Y, but with a typical theo twist." Read more.

New Eyewear from theo

“Again new models have been added to the theo by James range: James 9, James 10 and James 11. The same feature but with different shapes,” says Midwest Lens. “Both the shape of the frames and nosepiece have been cut from the same metal sheet. The nosepiece is then folded backwards. This way, there is no fixture between the glass and nose. Quite literally it’s a design with an edge. Or as they say in Belgium, it’s ‘missing a corner’, which means a little eccentric but in a fun, appealing way. And that suits theo to a T!” Read more.

New from theo

"theo, still mad about the O, presents five semi-round fruits with an O: MelOn, LemOn, COcOnut, MangO and AbricOt, all in typical theo colors," says Midwest Lens. "The fruity names give the glasses an additional exotic flavor. The theo twist is especially manifest in the combination of the two acetate colors. The illusion is created that one frame was made by assembling two frames. The color of the ‘outside frame’ goes on in the temples. Both colors reappear in the eartip. No boring plain colors, but lots of print combinations instead." Read more.

Van Vossel Develops One Wire for theo

You will not see James Van Vossel designing with a CAD system. He retreats to his atelier and experiments with shapes and materials. That's more or less the start of a post by Midwest Lens. "He departs from a basic idea and he tries to give this idea shape in his atelier...The result is never obvious and always surprising. This can also be said of the second collection that he devised for theo." It's called One Wire. Read more.
