New Mercedes-Benz Eyewear from Rodenstock

"When you think Mercedes-Benz, you probably think of luxury vehicles. What you probably don’t think of are glasses. However, working with German eyewear specialist Rodenstock, Mercedes-Benz has crafted a line of sunglasses and corrective lenses." That's the word from The News Wheel. "According to a Mercedes-Benz press release, the upcoming Autumn/Winter line will feature newly developed materials and shapes. Wood-effect glasses will be introduced in the next wave of Mercedes frames. The glasses integrate a wood-acetate rim with stainless steel arms. All in all, the Mercedes-Benz Style Eyewear Collection spring/summer 2014 comprises 20 new pairs of sunglasses and designs for corrective lenses. The eyewear specialists at Rodenstock designed and developed the glasses together with the automobile designers at Mercedes-Benz. The new models make their debut at opti 2014, the international trade show for optics and design (10 to 12 January 2014). Sensual purity as an expression of modern luxury reflects the Mercedes-Benz Style design philosophy as a leitmotif of the new collection. Claudia Schiffer Starts a Rondenstock Eyewear Line

"She's already conquered cashmere so now Claudia Schiffer is embarking on a new project; eyewear," reports the Telegram. "The German supermodel has joined forces with her home country's leading manufacturer of lenses and optical frames, Rodenstock, to design a 15-piece collection of eyewear. The Claudia Schiffer by Rodenstock offering will launch in 2014 and feature eight optical styles and seven sunglass styles, each available in two different colourways, all inspired by the Seventies, the model's favourite decade." Zeiss and Rodenstock Hook Up

Carl Zeiss Vision and Rodenstock have entered into a cross-license agreement for patents covering certain ophthalmic lens technologies, including Carl Zeiss Vision’s back-surface freeform progressive lens technology. The agreement reportedly will allow Carl Zeiss Vision and Rodenstock to accelerate the delivery of advanced ophthalmic lens products and related technology to markets throughout the world.
