"An optometrist supported [Josh] Hamilton’s gripe
that having blue eyes can cause glare issues during day games, so the
slugger decided to try out some contact lenses." says LarryBrownSports. "The results have been
spectacular. According to the stats displayed by TBS, and relayed to us by
contributor Alan Hull, Josh Hamilton is batting .423 (11-for-26) since

Sweat on Cornea Might Be Hamilton's Problem
The Josh Hamilton of the Rangers has a new explanation for his troubles at the plate. Here's the report from BusinessInsider. "Here’s how he explained it to ESPNDallas.com:

'I've got a good explanation for it. This
is as clear as I can make it,' Hamilton said. 'We play at nighttime,
sweat — blue eyes, obviously, are harder anyway — but playing at
nighttime, you sweat a lot, you wipe your eyes, sweat gets on your
cornea and dries overnight. Then, you come out midday the next day and

sweat and disperses and makes everything brighter.'
To combat the lingering corneal sweat, Hamilton has begun using eyedrops and eyelid scrubs on the night before day games." Read more. You can also read a more complete story posted on SportingNews.

Hamilton Throws Away Sunglasses
Slugger Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers still struggles with day-time glare, according to an ESPN post. "Hamilton entered the game batting .117 this season in 17 day games. He
vowed to wear sunglasses at the plate for the first time, something he
doesn't like to because he says it affects his depth perception. After
three at-bats wearing sunglasses, he ditched them for his final at-bat,
saying his eyes felt relaxed and well-adjusted to the daylight and he no
longer needed them." Read more.

CLs Ain't Helping Hamilton's Slump
"Frustrated Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is still searching for ways to improve his hitting during day games." acccording to a post on ESPN. "On Saturday, he used new tinted contact lenses -- they
made his blue eyes appear red -- and didn't get the results he wanted.
Hamilton, the designated hitter in the Rangers' 14-5 loss to the New York Mets,
was 0 for 4 with four strikeouts. He saw 17 pitches and 15 of them were
strikes. After his first three strikeouts, he took the contacts out and
tried to hit without them. It didn't change his fortune. Hamilton is now hitting .113 (6 for 53) in day games in 2011 and .377 at night." Read more.
