U2's Bono and Revo Team Up for a Vision Charity

"U2 frontman Bono has always been a vocal activist and supporter of charities meant to improve the world. Now, he’s launching a new campaign which will allow people to generously help those in need and look cool doing it," according to ET Online Yahoo!. "Bono teamed up with Revo eyewear to release a new, special line of shades! What’s more, Revo will donate profits from every pair sold to the Buy Vision, Give Sight campaign which, along with Revo’s partnership with the Brien Holden Vision Institute, is dedicated to preventing vision impairment and disease in over five million under served people across the world by 2020." Bono and Revo to Raise Millions to Improve Sight for the Impoverished

"Bono, who has had problems with his own vision, is partnering with a company to provide better eye care to the underprivileged," reports the News Tribune. "The 'Buy Vision, Give Sight' campaign with eyewear brand Revo is designed to raise $10 million for screening, eyeglasses and other assistance to the impoverished. Revo will donate $10 for each pair of eyeglasses it sells, and the U2 frontman will introduce his own line of Revo sunglasses, which he has been wearing on U2's sold-out tour, in the fall. U-2's Bono Has Glaucoma

"Bono [the lead singer for the music group U-2] rarely steps out without wearing his trademark sunglasses, but the reason he goes dark has nothing to do with fashion. The U2 frontman recently revealed that he wears glasses (even inside) because he suffers from glaucoma," according to US Weekly. "'This is a good place to explain to people that I've had glaucoma for the last 20 years,' the 54-year-old explained during a recording for the Graham Norton Show, when asked if he ever takes his shades off." Eye Health of Bono Deteriorating

"Julian Lennon, son of late Beatles legend John Lennon, has revealed that Bono's eye condition is getting worse," reports the Irish newspaper Western People. "The U2 frontman has revealed in the past that he wears his ever present sunglasses because his eyes are sensitive to light but his close friend Julian has confirmed that the the condition is deteriorating. He told the Irish Daily Star: 'Bono actually has a condition with his eyes. I don't know the exact issue but the brightness of the sun hurts them and it's a deteriorating issue.'" Read more.
